So, I missed last night's premiere of American Idol. I hope to miss the rest of the season as well, but I'm sure eventually I'll acquiesce. In order to atone for my future sin, this morning I offer another poem from the archives. This one was originally titled, "joel and ty say ‘kill your idols’". I doubt anyone reading this, save a couple people from college, have any idea what the title is talking about, but I think the rest of the poem is still somewhat relevant. Thus, with no further ado I present, "joel and ty say ‘kill your idols’":
america loves her golden idols
protect us from our foreign rivals
made from the holiest wholly-wood
they look and smell and sound so good
(american wood, o how fantastic!
100% recycled plastic!)
sometimes loud, sometimes bombastic
the west was never iconoclastic
poseidon forms the great seacrest
everyone worships their very best
on that primordial sixth day
god formed man from a lump of clay
‘history is bunk’ says henry ford
today we can produce our lords
once a year, one at a time
on the great american assembly line
and when all time is said and done
we praise father, spirit, & kelly clarkson

Too funny.
Too funny.
Ever since you tried out for AI and didn't make it to Hollywood you've been so hateful towards Simon, Paula, and Randy. It's just sad that you are spiteful towards such a wonderful American creation.
